Hex Converter — Text to Hex & Hex to Text

Convert text to hexadecimal bytes and hex back to text, Unicode-safe.

Text → Hex

Text becomes UTF-8 bytes, shown as space-separated hex pairs. Hex input may contain only 0–9, A–F and spaces. Runs 100% in your browser. Nothing you type is sent anywhere.

What the hex converter does

This tool converts text to hexadecimal (base 16) and back. Each character is encoded as UTF-8 bytes, and each byte is written as two hex digits from 00 to FF, so A becomes 41. Hex is a compact way to read raw bytes, which is why it appears in programming, networking and file formats.

How to use it

  1. Type or paste text into the left-hand box.
  2. Click Convert to get space-separated hex bytes.
  3. To decode hex, click Swap, paste the hex (0–9, A–F and spaces) and click Convert.
  4. Use Copy to copy the result or Clear to reset.

Worked examples

Text to hex: Hi! → 48 69 21.

A non-English character: € → E2 82 AC. The euro sign takes three bytes in UTF-8.

FAQ

Does upper or lower case matter when decoding?

No. e2 82 ac and E2 82 AC decode to the same text. The converter outputs upper case.

Can I paste hex without spaces?

Yes, as long as it is an even number of digits, for example 486921. It is split into two-digit bytes automatically.

Why do I get an error when decoding?

Either the input contains characters other than 0–9, A–F and spaces, or the bytes do not form valid UTF-8 text.

Is my text sent anywhere?

No. Everything runs in your browser.
