ASCII Converter — Text to ASCII Codes & Back

Convert text to ASCII decimal codes (0–127) and codes back to text.

Text → ASCII codes

Each character becomes its ASCII decimal code (0–127), separated by spaces. Characters outside ASCII, such as accented letters or emoji, are flagged. Runs 100% in your browser. Nothing you type is sent anywhere.

What the ASCII converter does

ASCII is the original 7-bit character set: 128 codes numbered 0 to 127 covering English letters, digits, punctuation and control characters. This tool converts each character of your text to its decimal ASCII code, for example A → 65, and converts lists of codes back to text.

How to use it

  1. Type text into the left-hand box and click Convert. Each character becomes a number, separated by spaces.
  2. To decode, click Swap, enter space-separated codes between 0 and 127, and click Convert.
  3. If your text contains a character outside ASCII, the tool tells you which one instead of guessing.
  4. Use Copy or Clear as needed.

Worked examples

Text to ASCII: Hello → 72 101 108 108 111.

ASCII to text: 79 75 → OK.

FAQ

Why is my accented letter or emoji rejected?

ASCII only covers codes 0–127. Characters such as é or emoji are outside it. Use the binary or hex converter, which handle any character through UTF-8.

Why are upper- and lower-case letters different numbers?

They are separate characters in ASCII. Capital A is 65 and lower-case a is 97, 32 apart.

What are codes 0–31 and 127?

They are control characters, such as tab (9), line feed (10) and delete (127), rather than visible symbols.

Is my text sent anywhere?

No. The conversion happens in your browser.
